Self confidence as a driving force for Generation Z women

Today, more and more members of generation Z are entering entrepreneurial waters and showing that they are ready to change the world. Their ideas and approaches to business lead to various changes. However, it has not always been so easy, because it is women who, decades ago and even today, are exposed to various obstacles, but that does not stop them from trying and trying.

What do we mean by this term, especially for Generation Z?

Self-confidence is above all faith in oneself, one's possibilities and abilities. For Generation Z, it is reflected in authenticity and the belief that they can be who they are, without the need to fit in. The conviction that despite the fact that they are young and that others consider that "it's still early", "they don't have enough experience", it is possible to deal with risks, problems and failures. When we talk about women entrepreneurs, they have professional self-confidence. This is exactly what helps them to remain composed, stable, to accept all problems, to lead teams and create new ideas... This is not something we are born with, but something that is built through falls, risks and experiences. We often hear that people say "Fake it till you make it", which today is becoming a survival tactic, that is, a shield. People won't know if we have self-confidence or not, until we show it ourselves.

Not everything was always perfect, on the contrary, women in entrepreneurship were not accepted at all before. We understand that discrimination still exists today, but generation Z is exactly the one that fights against all that. No matter how hard they try and fight, they may again doubt themselves and their knowledge. Previously, women were assigned the roles of mothers, wives and housewives, so they were not allowed to step into entrepreneurial activities. The lack of role models, mentors who are close to them in terms of age and interests, can further complicate the process of building self-confidence. In addition, the balance between private and business life is becoming increasingly difficult, because they are expected to always have everything perfect, to have time for everything, but life is not Instagram. This can additionally cause a feeling of guilt and shake the self-confidence that is being built. More and more girls struggle with perfectionism, because we are taught from a young age that we must be the "best" in everything we do.

The biggest enemy is the fear of failure. Many young girls experience failure as a personal defeat, not as a lesson. Self-confidence is not arrogance or perfection, but the courage to try and take risks. Self-confident women become mentors, leaders and role models for their peers. They initiate change, because they believe they can. It is not easy at all, but the will and desires are stronger.

We said what self-confidence is, so how do we build it?

It is true that sometimes we can think that someone is born with it, but it is far from that. Everything is acquired over time, primarily through experience. Experience, education and support are key. In addition, there are various courses, workshops, communities of young entrepreneurs, and support programs for women who want to start their own business are becoming crucial. Self-care plays an important role. Internal dialogue has a great influence on women, positive thoughts, keeping a diary and working with a therapist can help change negative thoughts. Generation Z stands for innovative ways of development, for interpersonal relationships and authentic conversations. Someone who has been through a similar path, their experiences and advice will always be important in helping girls develop their confidence. They break down prejudices and create a safe environment for young girls.

Today, self-confidence is a skill that can be acquired, not a privilege. It has become the new weapon of generation Z. Self-confidence enables them to overcome social and professional obstacles, make brave decisions, persevere in failure and become leaders who inspire others. It gives them the power to create new rules, to be role models in the fields they are interested in, and to become an inspiration not only to their peers, but also to generations to come.
